As usual, Europe rides to the rescue of the world, and the U.S. ignores them. Did you know that in 2007, Volkswagen premiered its Polo Blue Motion 1.4 TDI. A car capable of producing less than 100 g/km of CO2 with a stated fuel economy of 74.3mpg. To put that into comparison, a 2011 Prius gets 70mpg and puts out 92 g/km of CO2m, and is far more ugly. The VW Polo is a great car with decent looks which is less harmful to produce, doesn't use a battery and the U.S. can't get it. How fantastic is that? Seriously, who is in charge of this stuff?
